Episode 15: Ferreri Fails to Meet the Moment
Its been a doozy 2 weeks for Canada, a time for Canadian leaders to step up and meet the moment. We are amidst a resurgence of Canadian pride and identity with some shining examples of leaders rising to the challenge of defending our sovereignty, respecting Trade Agreements.
Of note are BC Premier Eby, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Manitoba's Wab Kinew to name a few. Behind the scenes here and in Washington, hundreds of staffers, Ministers, MPs and industry leaders have been working to change the outcome. Trudeau et al have been effectively defiant and clear: the psychodrama and illegal tariffs cannot stand. Its working.
It has been ridiculous to watch the Conservatives remain tone deaf to this challenge and enough words have been written on their shriveling inability to pivot their hateful messages to Canadians.
Locally, our MP Michelle Ferreri has made a revealing choice as to her political character. It was more important to her on the day that tariffs became active, and in the days since, to keep the Conservative base riled and angry. She has not once posted or spoken about tariffs or Canadian sovereignty. It is more important to her that she demonstrates her selfish allegiance to Pierre Poilievre and Jenni Byrne. Not Canada.
For the rest of this week, at $4,000/day in salary and expenses, she's continued her onslaught of rage and hate, as well as flying to PEI for some reason that will pass the federal expenses threshold. Bored, needing new content is my guess. She's never transitioned from what her current LinkedIn Bio claims:
She is no MP and Michelle Ferreri has really got to go.
In the last few weeks, the grassroots No More Ferreri campaign has grown. Its genesis is from a single downtown Peterborough front porch, now in multiple sign-printings funded by individual purchasers, visible in front yards and on roadways across the Riding, as well as Reddit, BlueSky and all other platforms. A small group of constituents is working to help this movement grow. If you are local and would like to purchase your own sign, you can contact Nancy Proctor on Facebook or Twitter.
I am looking forward to a general election and getting out into the community to speak to Constituents about Michelle Ferreri's poor performance, not just as an MP, but as a representative of this Riding. I hope you are too.
