Episode 6: Bots for Ferreri & Intimidating Local Press

Another $20,000 week in salary and expenses for our Peterborough MP Michelle Ferreri. And what did our Riding get?

MP Ferreri stood in the House of Commons on Tuesday and prefaced her rambling, 18-minute obstructionist speech with "Madam Speaker, it is always a true pleasure and honour to rise in the House of Commons and speak on behalf of the incredible people of Peterborough-Kawartha". You can read what she had to say here and decide if this actually does represent you.

Her speech followed her normal performance arc of starting quietly, getting increasingly theatrical, waving paper around, leaning forward in anger and eventually yelling her points aggressively, this time to a mostly-empty House. But the video clips!

Ah yes, the clips. A big change for her with a clip of this speech. Whoever makes these decisions decided that a portion of her speech was Bot-worthy, and Bot-amplify they did, in the thousands on X and YouTube. A small sample:

Constituents need to start asking ourselves some hard questions about Michelle Ferreri and if these manipulative tactics are serving our needs. Its an ugly change. 

This Bot development also begs the question of whether our MP is now part of Foreign Interference because who funds this? Is it Poilievre? Us as taxpayers? The Conservative Party? Stephen Harper and the IDU? Russia, China, India? Whatever this is, it moves her further and further away from representing this Riding. Effectively, we don't matter.

Next, Intimidating Local Press:
As a follow-up to Episode 4 where I documented our MP's "unhinged response to Minister Fraser" regarding her refusal to work on Peterborough's Housing Accelerator Fund re-application:

The Peterborough Examiner reporter who wrote the first article exposing her inaction sent a follow-up email to Michelle Ferreri asking again for a comment. As you can expect, this was not received well by our MP. Not only does she blast him with uncited stats and more angry rhetoric, she again published her response on her social media channels and included the reporter's email address, effectively doxing him to the world for all to harass. I have erased his contact info for this post so as not to exacerbate that:


Is this an MP who we want as our voice on Parliament Hill? 

Ugly, ugly times, the thought that this democracy-killing strategy of Bot manipulation along with her press intimidation is now part of our Riding.

Lastly, Ferreri voted against the motion to Axe the Tax. Seriously!



And our Prime Minister flew into Trumpland last night to meet the issue head on. Epic leadership!

Thank you to a number of fellow Constituents who also document Michelle Ferreri and alert each other to what's going on. We're a small group - you know who you are -  trying to educate others so we can make informed decisions at the ballot box.

Episode 5: MP Ferreri's Lies: Status of Women Committee Having None Of It

Taking time to watch Status of Women Committee meetings is a necessary and interesting endeavour. My Peterborough MP Michelle Ferreri has quite a history of abusing her allocated time on this Committee, using it as a clip factory to get Pierre Poilievre elected. If you've watched any of it over the last 2 years, you know that this is true.  You may remember this interaction from last year where newly-resigned MP Vandenbeld called out our MP for manipulating Committee time and business for clips: Within minutes of this exchange, Michelle Ferreri posted a clip that misrepresented what had occurred during this meeting - after protesting that this is not what she does! Fast forward a year, and this same behaviour by her has continued bolder & unabated, to Monday, November 25, 2024 and the Status of Women Committee members MP Leah Gazan and MP Pam Damoff are not having it.
