Its quite simple. PM Carney, if elected, is aspiring to fundamental changes to how our economy functions. His focus is in-house - our country.
It's also quite simple that with the predicted Liberal majority, where all polls show this as stable, taxpayer money will flow. It doesn't matter whether you agree with federal spending or not, it will happen. They've implemented a model that by-passes the Province and flows directly to Municipalities. Does our Riding want that money or do we not?
For those of you who's vote is undecided, or for those who are firmly planting their vote with the NDP or Greens thus risking re-electing Michelle Ferreri, here's what we can expect with a Conservative MP, a funding drought:
We've seen it with Ferreri's refusal to support the Housing Accelerator Fund.
We've seen it with her inability to work across the aisle, advocating for us.
We've seen it with her bullying of those who disagree with her.
We've seen it with her outright allegiance to The Party, not our Riding.
Guaranteed. A 2nd term for her will bring more of the same. This Riding will lose on available Federal funding. We'll get car rant videos while other jurisdictions receive taxpayer money.
Let's look at the funding that flowed to Peterborough under our former Liberal Minister and MP, first in a majority government, followed by 2 years of a minority government. It doesn't matter whether you believe these numbers or not - the fact remains - significant federal investment came to this Riding under a Liberal government with a Liberal MP.
No matter what funding Michelle Ferreri claims she brought to this Riding, it is barely 10%.
Is it "Time to Build" here, or not? The money will flow. Let's make sure it flows to Peterborough.
