Episode 7: MP Michelle Ferreri, 3 years in, has failed our Riding
Three local headlines in the last 10 days show the real-life consequences of an MP who doesn't contribute to solutions in this Riding. Our MP, Michelle Ferreri, will tell us that it's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's fault, that it's Minister Sean Fraser's fault, that it's Minister Jenna Sudd's fault, that it's Minister Marci Ien's fault, the list goes on. But clearly, none of them are our MP.
Who is responsible for representing us in Ottawa? That representation means supporting and advising our leaders in accessing Federal funding programs beyond the lightweight programs of summer students and passports. When the going gets tough, Ferreri starts running...off her mouth.
The fact that these three headlines have appeared in the last 10 days are the results of 3 years of inaction on the part of our MP. A failure. And community leaders are finally starting to speak up.
I am reminded of her campaign promise to bring a desperately needed detox and treatment facility to our Riding. How's that going? On her own MP website, and in Facebook posts, she talks about her responsibilities as our MP:
None of this is true. The only way we can move forward with Federal representation and access to Federal funding, is to vote Michelle Ferreri out in 2025. She is not in it for us and the business and social service communities in this Riding are finally figuring it out, and speaking up about her lack of tangible results. And our right-wing press is reporting on it.
Her Parliamentary expenditures are available to the public to read every Quarter via the House of Commons Proactive Disclosure database. Tracking her spending over the last 3 years, Michelle Ferreri has cost our Riding, and taxpayers, just under $2 million to date in salary and expenses. $20,000 per week folks.
Good times.
