Episode 9: MP Ferreri Has Blown Past Spending Expectations Too

Image
Every 3 month Quarter, the House of Commons releases MP expenses claimed and approved, which can be viewed here . We've been documenting Peterborough MP Michelle Ferreri's spending since her election in 2021. This year, she'll easily blow past cost expectations. Oddly coincidental that this is what she's been screeching about towards the Liberals in the House of Commons this week. Her cost to Riding taxpayers as of September 2024? And if we review her cost to taxpayers, year over year, comparing the same 3 Quarters (Q4 is not yet available for 2024), she has cost taxpayers $135,000 more in 2024 than when she was first elected! Let's review, year by year. From September 2021 - December 2022. Learning the ropes, staff don't seem to stay and she's certainly gotten the hang of expensing travel and contracts by the end of 2022. Next, January 2023 - December 2023, the hallmark of which is her wildly fluctuating staffing costs, which continue to dog her in 2024, an...

Episode 8: MP Michelle Ferreri's Transphobic Tampon Video Resurfaces at Status of Women Committee

The second meeting discussing Hate Motivated Violence Targeting the 2SLGBTQI+ Community was held yesterday at the Status of Women Committee. Our MP Michelle Ferreri spent her time summarizing a Netflix film she'd recently watched, contributing nothing to the actual agenda issue. As usual, hot air, focused on herself, not moving Canada towards solutions. During this meeting, a line of witness questioning resulted in an incredible exchange  between Pam Damoff, Liberal MP Oakville North-Burlington and Fae Johnstone, Executive Director of the Society for Queer Momentum, where the thrust of the issue was articulated brilliantly about Conservative rhetoric impacting societal views. What is particularly striking at the end of this exchange is MP Damoff bringing the conversation back to MP Ferreri's transphobic dogwhistle video from December 2023 that she posted to her 3 official MP social media sites to 140,000 followers. Public outcry, and likely internal Party dynamics dictating mes...

Episode 7: MP Michelle Ferreri, 3 years in, has failed our Riding

Image
Three local headlines in the last 10 days show the real-life consequences of an MP who doesn't contribute to solutions in this Riding. Our MP, Michelle Ferreri, will tell us that it's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's fault, that it's Minister Sean Fraser's fault, that it's Minister Jenna Sudd's fault, that it's Minister Marci Ien's fault, the list goes on. But clearly, none of them are our MP. Who is responsible for representing us in Ottawa?  That representation means supporting and advising our leaders in accessing Federal funding programs beyond the lightweight programs of summer students and passports. When the going gets tough, Ferreri starts running...off her mouth. The fact that these three headlines have appeared in the last 10 days are the results of 3 years of inaction on the part of our MP. A failure. And community leaders are finally starting to speak up. I am reminded of her campaign promise to bring a desperately needed detox and treatme...
