On August 14, 2024, MP Michelle Ferreri posted on her X account that she met with [our Riding's] Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre and stated that "the cost of living crisis has driven parents to traffick their own children." Michelle Ferreri's statement was harmful on 3 different levels. 1. Her statement minimized the trauma that victims and survivors of trafficking experience/experienced. Her statement essentially gave them the message that if they had money, this never would have happened to them. 2. Her statement gave the message that ANY family in the community experiencing poverty are at risk of trafficking their children.   Guest article written by Peterborough Constituent Mary R., as posted on Facebook: On February 25, 2025, MP Charlie Angus shut down a Maple Maga (as they like to refer to themselves) after he tried to harass peaceful Ukrainian protestors outside of the Russian Embassy in Ottawa.  The guy Charlie is cursing at is Chris Dacey of Dacey Media. Dacey, along with a few others, have been harassing Prime Minister Trudeau and all MPs full-time, daily, since the Convoy (except Conservative MPs who high-five "these clowns" on their way into Parliament, paraphrasing a Charlie Angus comment). Our MP Michelle Ferreri brought a couple of them, including Melissa Outwater, as her guests inside to Parliament. Its been a doozy 2 weeks for Canada, a  time for Canadian leaders to step up and meet the moment. We are amidst a resurgence of Canadian pride and identity with some shining examples of leaders rising to the challenge of defending our sovereignty, respecting Trade Agreements.  Of note are BC Premier Eby, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Manitoba's Wab Kinew to name a few. Behind the scenes here and in Washington, hundreds of staffers, Ministers, MPs and industry leaders have been working to change the outcome. Trudeau et al have been effectively defiant and clear: the psychodrama and illegal tariffs cannot stand. Its working. It has been ridiculous to watch the Conservatives remain tone deaf to this challenge and enough words have been written on their shriveling inability to pivot their hateful messages to Canadians.
